What we could not assess

A snapshot reads QuickBooks. It cannot see what was never entered: transaction backlog against your bank statements, receipts still in a drawer, payroll run elsewhere, filings. Your report names each one and leaves it unscored.

Every number names the QuickBooks report it came from — and the scoring method is published.

What this actually is

Most "free bookkeeping audits" are a sales call with a form in front of it. This one reads your file and does arithmetic. Every number in your report names the QuickBooks report it came from, so you can go and check it yourself — and the scoring method is published, because a firm that profits from finding problems should have to show its working.

We look at seven things: how current your books are, whether every bank and card account has been reconciled, whether transactions are actually categorized, whether money owed is being collected, asked for and paid, whether the ledger internally makes sense, whether the paperwork behind the numbers is on file, and how the file itself is put together. That is 37 checks — from the IRS’s $75 receipt floor and W‑9s for your 1099 contractors, to payroll tax sitting unremitted, loans that never move, personal spend in the P&L, and invoices you never sent.

And six things we will not pretend to know

A snapshot reads QuickBooks. It cannot see transactions that were never entered, receipts still sitting in a drawer, payroll that runs somewhere else, whether your returns were filed, the accounts that never made it into the file, or what your loan documents say. Those need your bank statements and a conversation. Your report names each one and leaves it unscored.

Peace of Mind Assessment

The six things QuickBooks structurally cannot answer — measured against your statements and your paperwork. All 53 checkpoints.

  • Transaction backlog depth — your bank and card statements reconciled against QuickBooks, which is the only way to count what was never recorded
  • Documentation backlog — unprocessed receipts, missing vendor invoices, W‑9s for your 1099 contractors
  • Payroll record integrity — missed runs, overtime maths, tax deposit timing
  • Tax compliance status — income, sales and payroll filing history, none of which lives in QuickBooks
  • A cleanup estimate in hours and dollars, a written report, and a working session on what to fix first

The line between them is coverage. The free snapshot reads QuickBooks. The assessment reads what QuickBooks never saw — which is the only way to answer how far behind am I, really?

Credited in full against your first month if you engage us within 90 days. If you don't, you keep the assessment and we keep the fee — either way you are not paying twice for the same work.

Run it again. Your first snapshot of a QuickBooks file is free. A second run of the same file — after the cleanup, or next quarter — is $100 by card, and the report shows how far you moved.

Your books are not a growth metric

We only read your books.

Intuit does not offer a read-only accounting permission, so the guarantee has to come from our code. Every call our probe makes is a GET. There is no code path in it that can alter your books.

The connection dies with the report.

The moment your report is built we revoke the token at Intuit and delete it here. Access lasts about two minutes. You keep the report, and the key is destroyed.

We store figures only.

What we keep is counts, dates and balances — the numbers on your report. We never store your transactions, and we never read or keep the names of your customers or vendors.

Every access is logged, and you can read it.

Every read of your file writes an append-only row: who, what, when. Your report links to that log. Delete everything at any time with one click and it is gone from our side.

The scoring method is public.

Every check names the QuickBooks report it reads, the weights are fixed, and the whole method is published. A firm that profits from finding problems should have to show its working.

Free means free.

No card, no trial, no auto-enrollment for your first snapshot. A second run of the same file is $100, paid by card on Intuit’s page — and the paid assessment is a separate decision you make later, only if the report earns it.
