Built for Wisconsin businesses

Accounting in Wisconsin carries rules a firm in another state simply does not deal with.

The pass-through entity-level tax election

Wisconsin lets a tax-option S corporation or a partnership elect to be taxed at the entity level at 7.9%, which moves the state tax above the line and out from under the federal SALT cap. It is an annual election with real trade-offs, and it wants modelling against each owner’s own return before the box is ticked.

The personal property tax is gone, and the filings went with it

2023 Wisconsin Act 12 repealed the tax on business personal property effective January 1, 2024, and the Statement of Personal Property is no longer filed. Books still carrying a personal-property accrual are carrying a liability that does not exist. Manufacturers still file their M-form real-property returns with the Department of Revenue, which is a different obligation people routinely conflate with the repealed one.

Manufacturing & Agriculture Credit — the classification is the work

Racine County makes things, and the Manufacturing and Agriculture Credit takes Wisconsin tax on qualified production income close to zero. It only applies if the property is classified as manufacturing by the Department of Revenue and the income is computed on the right base. The classification and the annual filings are the work; the credit is the result.

The Illinois line is twenty-five minutes away

Wisconsin has income tax reciprocity with Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky and Michigan, so a Racine employer with Illinois-resident staff takes Form W-220 and withholds Illinois tax only — while unemployment insurance follows its own rules, because reciprocity does not reach UI. Selling south of the line raises a separate nexus question. And Racine County has levied its own 0.5% sales tax on top of the 5% state rate since April 1, 2025, for 5.5% in total.

Racine FAQ

Do I need to come into the Racine office?+

No. Most of the work happens through a secure document exchange and the monthly close conversation happens on a call, so plenty of clients never sit down with us. If you would rather meet in person, 410 Main St is there and you are welcome.

What size businesses do you work with?+

Our sweet spot is $500K–$10M in revenue with roughly 5 to 50 employees — big enough that the books matter, not yet big enough to carry a full in-house finance department.

Do you handle Wisconsin and multi-state filings?+

Yes. Wisconsin income, withholding and sales tax, the pass-through entity-level election, and multi-state returns where you have nexus — including the Illinois reciprocity and withholding question that comes with being this close to the border.

What does it cost?+

Full outsourced accounting starts at $650/mo with fixed monthly pricing — no hourly surprises. What it lands at depends on transaction volume, entity count and how far behind the books are, and we will tell you the number before you commit to anything.
